We’ve all heard the expression, healthy body = healthy mind, right? And we’ve all rolled our eyes upon hearing the expression because let’s face it, exercise is often not very fun. For many of us, it’s just another thing on our to-do list that we never seem to get to – no matter how much we want to.
It turns out, though, that exercise releases the feel good chemicals in the brain like serotonin and dopamine. These are the chemicals that make you feel calm and happy. Studies have also proven that exercise can help reduce anxiety and depression, two afflictions that many entrepreneurs struggle with.
But if the science doesn’t convince you, how about the word of successful entrepreneurs? Many successful entrepreneurs have made exercise a priority in their daily routine and find that it improves their focus, ambition and productivity in the office. Evan Williams, one of the founders of Blogger, Twitter and Medium, has made an effort to go to the gym every afternoon, a time he finds helps him to be most productive. His schedule allows him to focus on work early in the morning and then take the afternoon off to exercise his body and readjust his mental focus. And Apple CEO Tim Cook is notorious for the energy he gets from his workout routine. Both of these men are highly successful and have demanding responsibilities, but they know that without a healthy body, their minds will not be as healthy as they need them to be. They find a simple way to fit exercise into their daily routine and enjoy the benefits of it each day.
To be successful you need to be willing to do everything you can to help your business grow, including taking care of yourself, which includes exercise. Find a way to fit daily exercise into your schedule, and you will find that a healthy body will help you have a healthier mind. And a healthy mind is what every entrepreneur needs to succeed.
