Is it time to make some changes in your life? It is the perfect time of year for it. For many spring is a time of new beginnings encouraged by a spirit of optimism after months of cold dreariness. As Doug Larson said, “Spring is when you feel like whistling even with a shoe full of slush.”
So if you’ve been thinking of trying something new – a more active lifestyle or a new career – don’t put it off any longer. Take that first step. Perhaps Walt Disney explained it best: “The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.” Did you perhaps spend the winter months talking about the changes you’d like to make? Then now is the time to do something to make those changes happen.
Don’t get bogged down, though, by what you haven’t accomplished in the past. “Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.” This truth from Maria Robinson sums up the idea of spring, but your spring can be any time.
Too often we focus on the negative rather than the positive. Really, in the here and now, it doesn’t matter if we didn’t meet all of our goals last year or even last week. Today is a fresh start, so start your own new ending.
